THE EFFECT OF USING ROUNDTABLE TECHNIQUE ON READING COMPREHENSION OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 TAMBANG

- The quasi experimental research was counducted based on the problems faced by students in reading comprehension of narrative text. The problems were : identifying the main idea, generic structure, communicative purpose, reference, and moral value. So, the researcher was interested in caryying out the research about these problems by using Roundtable technique. The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a significance difference between taught and without being taught by using Roundtable technique on students’ reading comprehension of the eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 1 Tambang. The design of this research was a quasi experimental. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choises test, to find out the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 23 version. The researcher found that there was a significant difference between taught and without being taught by using Roundtable technique on students’ reading comprehension of the eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 1 Tambang, Where To shows 3.282 in the significance level of 5% which was 2.00, and in the level of 1% was 2.65. It can be shown that 2.00˂3.282˃2.65. Significance was 0.002 ˂ 0.05. So, null hypothesis (Ho ) is rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha ) is accepted.
