  • This research was conducted based on the problems faced by the students in learning English especially in speaking. The research has 3 formulations of problem, how the students’ speaking skill before using picture series in narrative text is, how the students’ speaking skill after using picture series in narrative text is, and whether there is a significant difference of using or not using picture series in narrative text at the second year of MTsN Kampar. This research was an experimental research with one-group pretest-posttest design. The writer chose one class as an experimental class. The class consisted of 22 students. Before giving treatment, the group was given pre-test and after giving treatment they were given post test. It was the group which was treated with Picture Series Technique. Then, the data was analyzed by using paired sample t-test through SPSS version 17. The writer found that the mean of post test showed 70.82 which was higher than the mean of the pretest 59.64. Furthermore, the result of statistical analysis in the research showed the overall significance was .000 which was less than the alpha value 0.05. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Finally, based on the data analysis, the writer concluded that there is a significant effect of using Picture Series Technique on students’ speaking skill in narrative text at second year of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Kampar.
