  • This research is entitled “The correlation between students’ speaking anxiety and their speaking performance at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang”. The research has 3 formulation of the problem; How is students’ speaking anxiety at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang, how the students’ speaking performance at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang, and wether there is or no significant correlation between students’ speaking anxiety and their speaking performance of Junior High School 3 Tambang. The objectives of the research was to find out the students’ speaking anxiety at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang, to find out students’ speaking performance at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang. In this research, the research design was a correlation research. The population of this research was the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang in 2017/2018 academic year. It consisted of four classes; the number of population was 116 students. The sample of this research was 24 students, as sample used Simple Random Sampling. In collected the data, researcher used two techniques there are questionnaire was used to determine anxiety, and test was used to determine their speaking performance. The technique analyzing data was pearson product moment it was eased by using SPSS 22 program. Based on the data analysis, the writer concluded that there is a correlation between students’ speaking anxiety and their speaking performance at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang. It was considered from Sig.(2-tailed)=0.004 that was smaller than α(0.05). It means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. The value of correlation coefficient (r) is -0.562. From the research findings, it showed that there is a significant negative correlation between students’ speaking anxiety and their speaking performance at the eighth grade of Junior High School 3 Tambang.
