Based on the fact, the students have problems when speaking. The&#xD; students able to speak but not correct. They are not used the rules of grammar&#xD; especially in tenses simple present tense. In this case, the researcher was&#xD; interested in carrying out the research about these problems. The researcher to see&#xD; how was ability the students in simple present tense mastery toward speaking&#xD; accuracy. This way able to finds the strength of correlation between simple&#xD; present tense mastery and their speaking accuracy. The aims of the research were&#xD; to measure ability the students&#x2019; simple present tense mastery. Other that, if the&#xD; students able to speak with correct using rules of simple present tense what was&#xD; there have correlation toward speaking accuray or simple present tense mastery&#xD; haven&#x2019;t correlation toward speaking accuracy. The design of this research was&#xD; Quantitative. In collecting the data, the researcher used test for collected data in&#xD; test comprehension simple present tense activity and used observasi for collected&#xD; the data in measure speaking accuracy of the students second grade of senior high&#xD; school Plus Binabangsa Pekanbaru.The population of this research was the all&#xD; students that consisted of 125 students. Considering that population was &#xD; homogen, the researcher only took two classes be sample; XI MIPA 1 consisted of&#xD; 18 students and XI MIPA 2 consisted 11 students. So, the number of sample from&#xD; two classes was 29 students. In analyzing the data, the researcher used a Pearson&#xD; Product Moment. By using SPSS 16.0 and result r was compared with rtable .&#xD; Finally, based on the analysis of Pearson Product Moment formula, the researcher&#xD; concluded is the score r = 0.29 on interval 0.20&lt; r &lt;0.40; or -0.40&lt; r -0.20; the&#xD; mean it correlation is low.
