  • The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of Reciprocal Teaching Technique on reading interest and their reading comprehension of students in SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Pekanbaru. This study was QuasiExperimental in which pre-test and post-test were used. The sample of this research was the second-grade students that were divided into two groups, AK XI class, as experimental group and AP XI, as the supervisory group, that consists of 70 students. The data were collected by testing the students reading comprehension text and by questionnaire concerning their reading interest. Reciprocal Teaching Technique was used in this study for treatments. The results of this study show that: 1. There was a significant effect of implementing Reciprocal Teaching Techniques on students’ reading interest for the experimental group. The result of the t-test is 2.138, and the df was 54, by comparing the number of cycles. If the probability was bigger than 0.05, hypothesis 0 (H0) was rejected and if the probability is smaller than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Since the significance of 0.000 was smaller than < 0.05, Ha was accepted while H0 was rejected. 2. There was a significant effect of the implementation of Reciprocal Teaching Techniques on the students' reading comprehension for the experimental group. The t-test result was 11.074, the definition was 27, by comparing the number of cycles. Since the number of cycles was 0.000 < 0.05, Ha was accepted while H0 was rejected.
