  • Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation and information from the English teacher at Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru, it was found that some of the students had problems in reading comprehension. They could not reach the passing grade (KKM). The main focus of this research was to find out if there is a significant effect between using and without using fanfiction on students’ reading comprehension at Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru. The researcher formulated the problems that would be answered by using the quantitative research. This research had two variables, Fanfiction as an independent variable and students’ reading comprehension as a dependent variable. The type of research was a Quasiexperimental research. The subject of this research was the eleventh grade students at Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru. The researcher took two classes: experimental and control class. There were 76 students as sample from 347 students at eleventh grade Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choice test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used an independent t-test formula by using SPSS 22 version. Based on the analysis of T-test Formula, Ha is accepted because the sig. value is 0.012<0.05. The research concludes that there is a significant effect of using fanfiction on reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students at Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru.
