- This research was conducted to analyze the growth model of seaweed Eucheuma colony in Palu Bay based on assymptotic wieght and length parameters. The research factorial Completely Randomized Design. The first factor was seeweed weight, either 100g (W1) or 150g (W2), while the second factor was seaweed planting distance, either 25cm (J1) or 75 (J2). Each combination was repeated five times. Data collected were analyzed with a descriptive statistics and model simulation was done using the growth model of von Bertalanffy using the data of colony length and weight. The highest Eucheuma cottonii daily growth averaging 5.06g was found for the W2J2 treatment followed successively by the W1J2 (3.52g), W1J1 (3.22g) and W2J1 (2.92g). Applying the model simulation of von Bertalanffy for the W2J2 treatment at curvature coefficients of 0.225 (K1), 0.250 (K2) and 0.275 (K3) and with an assumed low water carrying capacity indicated that all the three coefficients suggested an assymptotic growth of seaweed length and weight.
