  • The experiment was conducted to evaluate the application of probiotic for increasing protein efficiency ratio and reducing fecal ammonia emission on broiler chickens. Six bacteria cultures consisting of Bacillus subtillis, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus thuringiensis, Lactobacillus acidophillus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophillus were applied as probiotic. 200 Day Old Chick CP 707 were treated by drinking water (PM), sprayed on the litter (PS), combination of drinking water and spraying (PMS), and no probiotic as the control (P0). The completely random design was used in this experiment with four treatments and five replications. The result of the experiment showed that the treatment have significant effect on the feed efficiency, protein efficiency ratio and fecal ammonia emission, but was not significant on the performance of broiler chickens. The conclusion was that probiotic treatment by sprayed on the litter have significant effect in improving protein efficiency ratio and reducing fecal ammonia emission. Key Word: Bacillus, Lactobacillus, Probiotics, Protein Efficiency, ammonia emission
