- Character and life philosophy of a community can be seen from its art and culture. Traditional performance art is one form of art and culture, and it identifies the character and life philosophy of the community. Unfortunately, in this globalization era there are many traditional performance arts that do not keep the original characteristic and life philosophy of its community anymore or fading away after getting influences from external cultures. Those changes really happen in the development of Indonesian traditional performance art, especially in West Java. West Java’s uniqueness of its traditional performance art cannot be accommodated by the types of performance space that are derived from other country or other territory. Because of that, a specific interior stage criteria needed so the traditional performance art of West Java can be performed in suitable place without losing its identity.Keywords: traditional performance art, West Java, stage
