Students’ beliefs about their capabilities to successfully perform tasks, or self-efficacy beliefs is one of factor contributing to the success of learning, including success in learning English. The beliefs of students developed about their academic capabilities or Academic Self Efficacy help to determine what they do with the knowledge and skills they have learned. Consequently their academic performances are, in part, the result of what they come to believe they have accomplished and can accomplish. This helps to explain why student's English achievement may differ markedly when they have similar abilities.
Due to the importance of academic self efficacy in the success of learning English, The formulation of research problem were: 1)How is the academic self-efficacy of 11th grade students at MAN Trenggalek? 2)How is the English achievement of the 11th grade students at MAN Trenggalek? 3) Is there any correlation between students’ academic self efficacy level and their English learning achievement for 11th grade students at MAN Trenggalek?
The purpose of this research were: 1) To know the self efficacy of the second grade students at MAN Trenggalek. 2) To know the English achievement of the second grade students at MAN Trenggalek. 3) To find out the correlation between students’ academic self-efficacy level and their English achievement of the second grade students at MAN Trenggalek.
In conducting this research, the researcher used quantitative approach. The research design that used was correlational research design. The population were 389 students from 11th grade of MAN 1 Trenggalek. The number of sample was 97 and taken using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using Academic Self Efficacy questionnaire and English Achievement test. Technique of analysis data in this study by calculating correlation coefficient using Spearman Correlation Technique SPSS 16.0 for windows.
The result of this study showed the mean for academic self efficacy questionnaire score was 87.97. The score was in the level 61-90. It can be said that the students’ academic self efficacy was in the medium level and the standard deviation was 6.812. The mean for english achievement score was 61.63. The score was in the level 51-70. It can be said that the students’ English achievement was in the medium level and the standard deviation was 18.452. Based on the analysis data through calculation using Spearman correlation analysis, the data indicated that the correlation coefficient 0.428, it means that there is positive value. Then sig (2-tailed) value was 0.000 lower than level of significant (α) 5% means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and automatically the null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Finally, It can be conclude that there is significant correlation between students’ academic self efficacy and their English achievement of 11th grade students of MAN 1 Trenggalek.</description><date>2018-08-07</date><type>Thesis:Bachelors</type><type>PeerReview:NonPeerReviewed</type><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/1/Cover.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/2/Abstrak.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/3/Daftar%20Isi.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/4/Bab%20I.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/5/Bab%20II.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/6/Bab%20III.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/7/Bab%20IV.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/8/Bab%20V.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://repo.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/8786/9/Daftar%20Pustaka.pdf</identifier><identifier> Nely Putri Khusnul Chuluqi, 1723143121 (2018) The Correlation Between Students' Academic Self Efficacy and Their English Achievement of The 11th Grade Students at MAN 1 Trenggalek.
