  • This thesis presents an analysis of two different online media news articles to know how Ahok’s leadership style is shown as a Jakarta Governor with their own perspectives and different way of explanations. Those both online media are The Jakarta Post and The Jakarta Globe online English version. This study aims to describe how Ahok’s leadership style as Jakarta Governor is framed in the media. This study uses a descriptive analytical and framing analysis theory of Pan and Kosicki. The result shows that the framing of both media, three articles from The Jakarta Post and also three articles from The Jakarta Globe, reported that Ahok has an authocratic leadership style as a Jakarta Governor. The framing of The Jakarta Post articles shows that they use positive perspective/words to represented Ahok’s leadership style as a Jakarta Governor such as ‘courage’ and ‘controversial style’ rather than ‘rude’. The other words that represented Ahok are bold, straightforward, unperturbed, confident and offensive style. The Jakarta Post was fully support Ahok’s leadership style. Meanwhile, The Jakarta Globe represented Ahok’s Leadership Syle in the immense and stronger way. The Jakarta Globe was partially support Ahok’s leadership style. The last article is shown the objectivity in framing Ahok. The Jakarta Globe used terms such as ‘potty mouth, temperamental, outspoken, combative, abrasive and foul language’. The framing of The Jakarta Globe still indicates an attempt to approach the media objectivity of the news.
