- Boyd pada tahun 2007 menyatakan bahwa remaja menggunakan instagram sebagai media dalam melakukan social comparison untuk mendapatkan gambaran self-presentation yang ingin ditampilkan. Oleh karena itu, untuk melihat pengaruh antara social comparison terhadap self-presentation pada remaja akhir pengguna instagram dilakukan analisis regresi linier sederhana terhadap 250 responden yang berdomisili di Jakarta. Responden dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengukuran social comparison menggunakan Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) dan pengukuran self-presentation menggunakan Self Presentation on Facebook Questionnaire (SPFBQ). Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara social comparison terhadap self-presentation pada remaja akhir pengguna instagram dengan pengaruh sebesar 18%. Boyd in 2007 stated that adolescents use Instagram as a medium for social comparison to get at picture of the social comparison they want to display. Therefore, to see the effect of social comparison on self-presentation of adolescents user Instagram, a simple linear regression analysis was conducted 250 respondents living in Jakarta. Respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Social Comparison was measured by using The Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) and Self-Presentation was measured by using Self-Presentation of Facebook Questionnaire (SPFBQ). The results showed that there was a significant influence between social comparison on self-presentation of adolescents user Instagram with an effect of 18%.
