THE CORRELATION STUDY AMONG STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ANXIETY, MOTIVATION, AND SPEAKING PERFORMANCE OF ISLAMIC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AL-JAUHAREN JAMBI

  • The objectives of this study were to find out (1) the correlation between Student Speaking Anxiety and Speaking Performance (2) the correlation between Motivation and Speaking Performance (3) the correlation among Student Speaking Anxiety, Motivation and Speaking Performance. This is quantitative research with correlational design. The population of this study was the eleventh grade of Senior High School Al-Jauharen Jambi which consist of two classes with 76 students. The researcher used total sampling which means all students in eleventh grade involved in this research. The data were collected by using questionnaire and speaking test. Based on the research findings, the result of the coefficient correlation between Student Speaking Anxiety and Speaking Performance was r= 0.033. It means that those variables were positively correlated. However, r= 0.033 is categorized as lowcorrelation.Then, the result of the coefficient correlationbetween Motivation and Speaking Performance was r= 0.041. It means, that those variables were positively correlated. However, r= 0.041 considered as low correlation. Then, the result of coefficient correlation between Student Speaking Anxiety, Motivation and Speaking Performance was r=0.015, it means that those variables were positively correlated. However, 0.015 considered as low correlation.
