- This article juxtaposes Islamic legas views on pornography with positive law pronouncement on the same issue. It specifically explains the nature of MUI fatwa number 287/2001 on pornography by which MUI recomended the state to pass the law agains pornography. It considers MUI’s action as preventive measures to protect community, particularly women and children, from detrimental effects of pornography and its associated products.
