- Hegemony is power that committed by the ruling or dominant group to spread the ideology to the subordinate group in order to have the same understanding and thinking. Society of Iraq is forced to abide the rules and accept the hegemony from American as the dominant group. During the American invasion, conflicts occurred due to hegemony. The focus of this research is the hegemony that is committed by American as the dominant group to Iraqis Society as subordinate group, and technique of propaganda as seen in American Sniper film. The purpose of this research (1) to know the way of American hegemony conducted toward Iraqis in American Sniper film (2) to know the impacts of American hegemony in American Sniper film (3) to know technique of propaganda in American Sniper film. The writer uses Hegemony theory from Antonio Gramsci and Sociological approach to support this thesis. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method because this method will produce the descriptive data in the forms of words or written and the research explain by word in the sentence and do not statistical analysis. the writer use documentation technique to get the data of the research which uses descriptive technique to describe and analyze the data. The results of this analysis are the hegemony of America toward Iraqis society is through domination hegemony, in ways of military aggression, violence and murder. The impacts of American hegemony are material harm, loss of peace and security of Iraqis society, and dead victims who were not only terrorists but also civilian.That happened during the American invasion of Iraq. America feels that their “spontaneous consent” has failed, In order to keep their positions in society, America as the dominant group establishes sanctions or punishments to discipline Iraqis society who disobey their rules and techniques of propaganda that found in American Sniper film they are name calling and card staking that found in the scene and dialogue.
