- The preparation of this journal is about understanding reading activities, factors that cause low reading interest in students. This preparation aims to inform the importance of reading activities to improve insight or knowledge and there are also supporting factors in improving reading interest such as teachers, students themselves and their environment. This research is done by descriptive quantitative research method. The data were obtained by conducting observation in advance for several days questionnaires, followed by interview to the students' as the resource person who was considered most knowledgeable about the problem to be studied, about the teacher's effort and in overcoming the low reading interest of the students. The result of the research shows that the low reading interest of students, because students are always lazy, students consider reading books demanded for and silent. Efforts made by the teacher is to hold an event or a race that makes students love to read and love books.
