  • The purpose of this study to to know the kinds of syntactical and morphological interference used by the students in writing descriptive. The type of this research was qualitative research. The writer has an opinion that this research posses the features as like the second feature, it is representing the perspective of people in study, in this case the directly analysis about the language that they are learned. The result showed that Grammatical interference occurs when the elements of mother language included in using of foreign language step by step in grammatical of foreign language word order, pronoun, conjunction, subject–free agreement, tense, and singular plural agreement. There are two types of grammatical interference, they are morphological interference and syntactical interference. After the data being analyzed, the researcher took some conclusions of this research. Generally, the students have written the argumentative essay well. The researcher found that several essay were written with correct English grammatical. However, several of the essays were written in unappropriate English grammatical. Specifically, they got influence by the grammatical of Indonesian language. After analyzing the students’ descriptive writing, the researcher found that the grammatical interference made by the students consist of two types. They were morphological interference and grammatical interference. In morphological interference, the researcher found that the student get interference in the form of noun, adjective and verb. Meanwhile, in syntactical interference, the researcher found the interference in the form of phrase and sentence. Key Words ; syntactical and morphological interference , writing
