- This thesis discusses the influence of the life background of female characters that influence the formation of sexual orientation in The Girl King film by Mika Kaurismaki. The film tells of the Swedish queen's scandal, Christina, whose sexual orientation is lesbian contact with her own personal lady, Ebba Sparre, whose sexual orientation is bisexual. The purposes of this study are: first, to find out the sexual orientation of female characters in The Girl King film. Second, to know the factors that influences the sexual orientation of women in The Girl King film. This research uses the Queer theory and Psychoanalysis approach. The method used is a Qualitative research and Descriptive method to analyze data in this study. The sources of data are taken from scenes, gesture, expression, and dialogue in The Girl King film by Mika Kaurismaki. The findings in this research are that there are two sexual orientations of female characters in The Girl King film, namely lesbian: someone who has an interest in emotional, sexual, physical, in fellow women, and bisexual: someone who has a physical attraction, emotional, sexual, in both sexes of men and women. The second finding in this research is that that the factors that cause sexual orientation in Christina and Ebba Sparre are spontaneous or accidental feeling and a result long terms interaction with another woman. The third finding in this research is the influence of life background toward Christina and Ebba Sparre are parenting and family environment family factors.
