- This study aims at finding out the translation method used in the subtitle of the "Hellboy" in the movie subtitle of "Hellboy". The theory used in this study is the theory by Newmark (1988). This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Research data sources were from the subtitle of the "Helboy" movie which was translated by Setroya which were then collected based on the method of translation. The results 38 datas found of this study show that 8 datas use literal translation methods equal to word for word translation method for 8 datas, 7 datas use idiomatic translation method, 5 datas use communicative translation method equal to free translation method for 5 datas, 3 datas use adaptation translation method, and the last 1 data use semantic translation method as it equal to faithful translation method for 1 data. The most widely used methods are and word-for-word literal method which do not change the word order neither the meaning. Keyword : Translation, Movie Subtitle, Hellboy.
