- The study presents a comprehension of psychology analysis which is limited in the analysis of the main character based on the characterizations. The writer focuses on the psychological problems that are related to the id, ego, and superego of Piscine Molitor Patel by analyzing the evidence found in the dialogues and scenes in the film. This research data were taken from “Life Of Pi” film directed by Ang Lee. The Psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud was used as a theoretical concept in this study. This research used qualitative method. The research finding show that Piscine Molitor Patel as the main character in this film has characterization as follows; curiosity, never give up, brave, strong belief, fear, and intelligent. This research also finds out Piscine Molitor Patel’s personality development based on the motivation from unconscious mind to overcome his anxiety by using defense mechanism.
