- The aims of this study is to discuss teaching speaking through storytelling by using CLT deals with the activities, materials and result of teaching speaking through storytelling by using CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) in SD N Karang Tengah 14 Tangerang. The approach used in this study is Qualitative, according to Hughes (2006) “Qualitative researchers attend to the experience as a whole, not as separate variables” that is by doing observation, interviewing the English teacher, and giving questionnaires to the students. The materials used in teaching speaking were such as: An interesting story, story book, picture book, text book and internet. The teacher should develop the materials using communicative approach. The result of the CLT method used in speaking activity give some advantages to the students, such as to motivate the students and make them able to speak very well. Based on the finding the data of the study, it can be concluded that teaching speaking through CLT can improve the students interest in English subject expecially speaking.
