- This study is narration qualitative interpretive that aimed to identify and to analyze the idiomatic expressions in The Jakarta Post an English daily newspaper that was published in Indonesia. This study aimed to show how journalese representing an idiomatic expressions applied in a newspaper. This study applies the theories of idiomatic expressions by Felicity O’Dell, Michael McCarthy and Barbara K. Gaines. The concept of idiomatic relates to language expressions in this case, language focuses on how its change and growth based on socio-culture issues. The result of this study shows that idiomatic expressions may have several forms such as types, classifications in literal and non-literal (figurative) form based on structure and context of phrase.
