- The purpose of this study is to analyze Imagery and Figurative Language in Selena Gomes’s song lyrics. This study describes the types of imagery and figurative language used by Selena Gomez and the reasons of choosing imagery and figurative language. The songs are “ Hit the light, Star dance, Year without rain , Fly to your heart and Save the day”. The method used in this study was qualitative, which can help the writer to understand and appreciate the author’s feeling on their art work. To analyze the data the writer uses the theory about imagery and figurative language from Di Yanni (2000) and Kennedy (2004). From the data analysis, it was found that there are 7 types of imagery and 5 types of figurative language. The dominant imagery is organic and the dominant figurative language is personification.
