- The aim of this study is to discuss figurative language and imagery in The Beatles’s Song Lyrics. To support the study, the writer used the theory of figurative language by Kennedy (2005), and the theory of imagery by DiYanni (2002). Those theories were used because of their extensive and detailed sources to solve the problems. The writer uses qualitative method to analyse the data findings. The result of the study shows that, there were found 89 regarding figurative languages and imagery. Figurative language appears 50 times namely; Personification appears 13 times, Hyperbole appears 11 times, Simile appears 7 times, Metonymy appears 6 times, Metaphor appears 5 times, Irony appears 5 times, Paradox and Synecdoche appear 1 time. In addition, 39 imageries were found, such as; Visual appears 15 times, Auditory appears 11 times, Organic appears 10 times, Tactile appears 2 times and Gustatory imagery appears 1 time.
