- The purpose of this study is to discover teaching speaking materials for young learners, the class activities given to motivate students and develop students’ spirit in learning speaking, and to get result in speaking learning process to be analyzed. This study utilized storytelling in teaching speaking because storytelling is interesting for young learners so it can improve the students’ interest in learning speaking skill. Qualitative method was used to analyze the data. Observing the class situation, interviewing the teacher, and giving questionnaire to the students were done to collect the data. Then, the data collected was written in the form of essays. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is the suitable method which was used for teaching speaking in this study.
