- This study deals with flashcard as media that is used in teaching vocabulary to the elementary students with direct method. The aim of this study is to analyze the material in used, to describe the activities in teaching vocabulary using flashcards at elementary level and to find out the result of teaching vocabulary using flashcards with direct method. In collecting data, the writer observations at SD Muhammadiyah 12 Pamulang Barat. The study was conducted in second grade from the age of 7–8 years. The writer used qualitative method to describe the observations results have done for observing teaching and learning vocabulary in elementary school using flashcards through the direct method. In this study it was found that flashcards is very good teaching material that can be used in teaching vocabulary to the elementary students and direct method is most appropriate. It can be seen from activity the teacher between the students. The students where more active and more fun in learning vocabulary using flashcards through direct method.
