- This study discusses the joke translations from English to Bahasa in Trainwreck movie. The aim of this study is to find out what types of joke translations that appear in the movie and how the translator translating the joke into the target language. The writer uses qualitative method to reach the objective of the study by giving descriptive explanation of the study. The writer collected the data by watching the movie both in English and Indonesian subtitle, then determined and analyzed the jokes that appeared in the movie. Zabalbeascoa’s theory about joke translation was applied as the reference of the study to process the collected data. This joke translation theory explicate the types of jokes which can facilitate translators to translate joke in a text. Another theory about translation strategies also supported in this study, it was given by Martínez-Bartolomé. This theory elucidate the translation strategies to help translator in translating the text.The finding of this study is that the writer found 5 out of 6 types of joke translation that appear in the Trainwreckmovie;they are International joke, is the most dominant joke that mostly appear in the film, then it follows by nasional-sense-of-humor joke, national-culture-and-institutions joke, language-dependent joke and complex joke which is consists of visual joke and national-sense-of-humour joke.
