  • UAV is an unmanned aircraft that is usually used for the purposes of surveillance, monitoring, supervision or observation in the air. In communication, the UAV is equipped with the antenna that serves as the sender and receiver. At this final project implement four design of antennas for UAV applications, they are a single element microstrip antenna with rectangular patch, single element microstrip antenna with a circular patch, four element microstrip antenna with a rectangular patch and four elemen microstrip antenna with a circular patch. The antenna is designed to works at frequency of 902-928 MHz, adjusted to the modem that is used on the UAV, the piccolo SL. The simulation was done using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio. The antenna has been fabricated on the FR4 microstrip board with er is 4.3 and thickness is 1.6 mm. From the simulation results and measurements, the VSWR of antenna is less than 2 with omni-directional radiation pattern. Gain obtained from the simulation results is 3-6 dB. The range capability of this antenna reaches 160 meters in NLOS conditions.
