Daftar Isi:
  • Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) eggs often fail to hatch. Microbes were suspected of turtle eggs hatching failure, therefore microbial analysis is needed. Samples were shell, sand, and egg content from green turtle nest in Bilang-bilangan island, which had the lowest and highest hatching rates or TPR and TPT. Parameters measured include Total bacteria, fungi, and coliform analized with spread plate method, and identification of coliform bacteria with RapID method. Results showed that presence of bacteria, coliform and fungi affect turtle egg hatching success. Total bacteria on sand, shell, and egg content was 2,66x10^6 CFU/g, 9,3x10^3 CFU/shell, and 3,9x10^5 CFU/ml of TPR, while sand and shells of TPT was 1,05x10^5 CFU/g, 6,7x10^3 CFU/shell. Total fungi in sand, shell, and egg contents was 1x10^3 CFU/g, 6,9x10^4 CFU/shell, and 3x10^5 CFU/ml for TPR, while sand and shells of TPT was 8,8x10^3 CFU/g and 1x10^3 CFU/shell. Total coliform in sand, shell, and egg content was 2,16x10^5 CFU/g, 2,1x10^4 CFU/shell, and 3x10^5 CFU/ml in TPR while on TPT 3x10^3 CFU/g and 4,2x10^3 and Serratia odorifera in all three TPR samples and Hafnia alvei and Citrobacter freundii in both TPT samples.
