  • Dental and oral hygiene one of the causes of dental caries. Dental caries the most important problem because it can cause dental tissue disease characterized by tissue damage starting from the surface of the teeth (pit, fissure, and interproximal area) extending toward the pulp. In general, children experience dental caries starting from the age of 6-12 years, but from the results of many studies that have experienced dental caries including children under 12 years old, one of them children aged 10-11 years. The purpose of this research is to know description of oral hygiene level and permanent dental caries of grade IV and V students of elementary school 6 Sesetan South Denpasar. The research is descriptive research. The results of the research on 23 about oral hygiene students were obtained the highest number were the moderate criteria (56,52%), the average of OHI-S 1,42 including medium criteria. Students affected by permanent dental caries were 9 students (39,14%). The average permanent dental caries by 0,74 including very low. The level of oral hygiene based on permanent dental caries is most on oral hygiene level with moderate category. The conclusions of this study are the average dental and oral hygiene have the most moderate OHI-S criteria and an average permanent dental caries is classified as very low.
