- Every pregnancy is a life event that has great significance. The Bodychanges that are so much and was relatively brief stressful for parents. Antenatalclasses are a model study for parents. Its activities are learning together abouthealthcare for pregnant women, in the form of face to face which aims to increaseknowledge and skills of mothers about pregnancy, prenatal care, childbirth,postpartum care, infant care, infectious diseases and birth certificate. Is to determinethe effect of the implementation of antenatal classes on behavior of pregnant women.The aim of this study was to investigate the effectsof the antenatal classes on behavior(knowledge, attitudes and actions) of pregnant women. This study used an Quasi-experimental with “non-randomized control group pretest-postest design”.Experimental groups are pregnant women who follow antenatal classes, the controlgroup are pregnant women who followed the health service comvensional. Inclusioncriteria: primigravida pregnant women gestational age 20-32 weeks, willing to followa course (for the experimental group). Sampling techniques in the study wereconsecutive sampling. Data analysis begins by conducting a test for normality withShapiro-Wilk test (p:> 0.05) because the data are not normally distributed, to analyzethe differences in behavior between the experimental group with the control groupthe Mann Whitney (p; <0.05)Respondents were 35 people in the treatment group and 38 people in the controlgroup. The analysis showed that there were highly significant differences in changesin knowledge (p: 0.000), attitude (p: 0.000), and action (p: 0.000) between treatmentgroups (pregnant women who follow antenatal classes) with the control group(pregnant women who follow antenatal care in Conventional). The treatment of thecourse affected the behavior (knowledge, attitudes and actions) of pregnant women.Activity classes are considered as one of the methods of health counseling in pregnantwomen.
