Gamal leaf has active substance for antibacterial activity such as tannins, alkaloids, saponins and flavonoids.&#xD; Purpose: The objective of the study was to know the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of gamal leaf (Gliricidia sepium) for Streptococcus mutans in various concentrations.&#xD; Method: This study is true experiment with post-test only control design. The determination of antibacterial activity in this study was conducted by using Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method with the various concentrations, there were 40%, 50%, 60%, 70% and 80%. The positive control in this study is 30 &#xEC;g disk diffusion chloramphenicols and the 96% of ethanol is used as the negative control.&#xD; Result: The average inhibition of zone diameter in the concentrations of 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80% are 11.3 mm, 12.3 mm, 13.4 mm, 15.3 mm and 19.2 mm, respectively. One Way Anova statistic analysis showed that the value of p is 0.000, so there is a difference of growth inhibition zone of Streptococcus mutans in various concentrations of ethanol extract of gamal leaf (Gliriciadia sepium).&#xD; Conclusion: Based on the result, it can be conclude that the ethanol extract of gamal leaf (Gliriciadia sepium) have strong antibacterial activity, especially to Streptococcus mutans bacteria.&#xD; Keywords: Ethanol extract of gamal leaf, Streptococcus mutans, antibacterial activity, inhibition zone.&#xD; AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN GAMAL (Gliricidia sepium) PADA BERBAGAI KONSENTRASI TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Streptococcus mutans SECARA IN-VITRO&#xD; ABSTRAK&#xD; Latar belakang Streptococcus mutans merupakan bakteri gram positif penyebab utama terjadinya karies gigi. Daun gamal mengandung zat aktif sekunder yang bersifat antibakteri seperti tanin, alkaloid, saponin, dan flavonoid.&#xD; Tujuan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak Etanol daun gamal (Gliricidia sepium) pada berbagai konsentrasi terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans secara in-vitro.&#xD; Metode penelitian ini adalah true experimental dengan desain penelitian post-test only control design. Penentuan aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode difusi cakram Kirby Bauer dengan lima konsentrasi uji yaitu konsentrasi 40%, 50%, 60%, 70% dan 80%. Kontrol positif berupa cakram disk antibiotik Kloramfenikol 30 &#xEC;g dan kontrol negatif yaitu Etanol 96%.&#xD; Hasil penelitian berupa rata-rata diameter zona hambat dari setiap konsentrasi yaitu konsentrasi 40%, 50%, 60%, 70% dan 80% dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 11,3 mm, 12,3 mm, 13,4 mm, 15,3 mm dan 19,2 mm.
