GAMBARAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN TENTANG MAKANAN KARIOGENIK DAN KARIES GIGI PADA SISWA KELAS IV DAN V SDN KEDISAN KINTAMANI TAHUN 2019

- Cariogenic foods are sweet foods that contain sugar, which can cause dental caries or cavities. Caries is the result of interactions of bacteria on the surface of teeth, plaques or biofilms, and diets (especially carbohydrate components that can be fermented by plaque bacteria to acid, especially lactic acid and acetate) so that there is demineralization of the hard tissue of the teeth and requires sufficient time to occur. Most of the students of Kedisan Elementary School are consume the sweet snacks eeveryday, and does not rinsing with water but they drink packaging drinks contain sugar. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge about cariogenic food and dental caries in grade IV and V students of Kedisan Elementary School, Kintamani year 2019. The research conducted was descriptive research with survey design. The results of the study conducted on 50 students about knowledge level of cariogenic foods found the highest percentage of knowledge about cariogenic foods, namely the level of knowledge with enough categories as much as 38%. The average level of knowledge about cariogenic foods is 64,27. Of the 50 students, 88% of students were affected by caries. The highest frequency of caries occurred in 18 students with a enough categories of knowledge, that is 47 caries. Conclusion of this research is most of the grade IV and V students of Kedisan Elementay School have enough category of knowledge level and most of student suffering from dental caries.
