- ABSTRACT. Every year it appear occur increasing who select water birth delivery, one of reason as consideration was water birth delivery have duration of period two shorter than conventional method. this study aims to find out whether there was difference of duration of second period at delivery primipara childbirth between water birth and conventional method at clinic of Ibunda Denpasar. This study is analytic comparation study with prospective cohort approach. Population was all primi pregnant women who was delivery at clinic of Ibunda Denpasar from January 2013 until October 2013. Number of sample was 72 people by purposive sampling. The result showed median value of duration of second period at waterbirth delivery was 15 minute and conventional method was 20 minute. Statistical test result using the Mann Whitney test 445,5 with p=0,021. There was difference of duration of delivery duration of second period at the mother who was selected waterbirth delivery and conventional method. The researcher sugested the waterbirth delivery in adoption. Keywords: waterbirth, conventional, second period, primipara
