  • THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING QUARSA SAND AND ZEOLITE COMBINATION IN DECREASING IRON CONDITION (Fe) ON WATER OF WELLS ABSTRACT The presence of Fe content in well water can cause health problems, raiser the smell of the less palatable, and cause yellow spots on the clothes and walls of the bath. Fe content obtained at Jln. Sidakarya Gang Taman Suci is 3.112 mg / L, exceeds the standard set by Permenkes No. 32 Year 2017 that is 1 mg / L. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of a combination of quartz sand media and zeolite stone in the decrease in iron (Fe) content in dug well water. The method in this research is Quasi experiment with research design of Pre-Test-Post-Test Group. After experimental treatment Fe content decreased at 10 cm quartz sand thickness and 10 cm zeolite stone 0,816 mg /L with effectiveness 26,21%, quartz sand thickness 20 cm and 20 cm zeolite stone 1.48 mg /L with effectiveness 47,55%, quartz sand thickness 30 cm and stone zeolite 30 cm equal to 2,281 mg /L with effectivity 73,30%. Based on One Way ANOVA test get sig value. 0.000 <0,05 which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, it mean that there is difference of effectivity of using combination of quartz sand and zeolite stone in decreasing iron content (Fe) in water with different thickness significantly. Quartz dand thickness of 30 cm and 30 cm zeolit stone are the most effective in decreasing fe level of 73,30% Keywords: Quartz Sand, Zeolite Stone, Iron Content (Fe)
