  • THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COMBINATION OF BUBBLE AERATION METHOD - CAPORITIZATION AND ACTIVE CAPTURE FILTRATION IN DECREASING IRON CONDITION (Fe) TOWARDS WATER SOURCE ABSTRACT Water for sanitary hygiene must have the requirements of chemical parameters, in the form of iron content in the water. Iron content in one of water sources at Sidakarya villager Taman Suci Alley South Denpasar which was examined, exceeded the threshold value with iron content of 3.125 mg / l. The method that was used to decrease iron content is aeration which is using bubble aerator combined with caporitization and active charcoal filtration. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of bubble aeration method - caporitization and active charcoal filtration in decreasing iron content in water sources The type of this study is Quasi experiment with the design is Pre-Test-Post-Test Group. The sample of this research is the water source of Mrs. Ni Wayan Reni. The technique that was used is grab sampling with sample is water source which is having iron content (Fe) more than 1 mg / l. The statistical analysis that was used is Two Way Anova Univariate analysis with result of sig value. ie 0.000 or sig <0.05 which means Ho is rejected or there is influence of variation of aeration contact time to decrease iron (Fe) content in water source. Further test used Post Hoch Test LSD to know the most effective variation of time to decrease iron content with the biggest difference result 0,684333 on treatment with 45 minute aeration time, where time 45 minutes is the most effective time to decrease iron content with effectiveness equal to 84% can reduce iron levels to 0,500 mg / l. It is recommended to apply household-scale methods to use larger-pressure aerators as well as larger-volume filtration designs. Keywords: Combination of water treatment, Iron (Fe)
