- DIFFERENCES IN NUTRITIOUS INTAKE AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN VEGETARIAN AND NON-VEGETARIAN COMMUNITIES IN THE DENPASAR CITY ABSTRACT Vegetarian is a group of people with consumption patterns eating no meat, no fish, no poultry or processed products. A vegetarian diet can provide health benefits and tends to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. The vegetarian intake pattern generally tends to be low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol as well as high in fiber compared to non-vegetarians. This study aims to determine the differences of nutritious intake and blood pressure between vegetarian and non vegetarian communities. This is a cross sectional study with 43 samples of vegetarian and 43 samples non vegetarian. The study found that intake of energy, protein, fat and sodium are lower in vegetarian group compare to non vegetarian group. The blood pressure average of non vegetarian group lower compare to vegetarian group. There was a significant different between the groups including intake of energy, fat, protein, sodium and the blood pressure. It is important to conduct nutritional education to increase the nutritious intake between the groups.
