- Introductions & Aims:One of the plants that can heal wounds is turmeric in the turmeric rhizome, because the content of curcumin in turmeric can heal wounds. The aims of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of turmeric rhizome (Curcuma domestica Val.) in accelerating the process of wound healing in white mice (Mus musculus) male.Method:The ethanol extract of turmeric rhizome was obtained by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent and concentrated using a rotary evaporator, obtained yield yield of 14.8%. The thick extract obtained is then made into 3 concentrations, namely concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20%. The study used mice test animal which were divided into 6 groups each consisting of 4 mice, group 1 (positive control), group II (negative control), group 3 (normal control), group 4 (concentration 10%), group 5 (concentration of 15%), group 6 (concentration of 20%). Mice were treated with incisions on the backs of mice with a length of ? 1 cm, then visually observed changes in incision for 14 days. The results of the study were analyzed by ANOVA test and post hoc test LSD.Result:Ethanol extract of turmeric rhizome at a concentration of 10%, 15% and 20% can accelerate the process of wound healing in male mice. In the ANOVA test, the results obtained p < 0.05 so that it can be concluded that there were significant differences in effects between the treatment groups with negative and normal controls. Conclusion:The ethanol extract of turmeric rhizome with a concentration of 20% was the most effective in accelerating the healing process of wounds in male mice for 5.5 days. Keywords: turmeric rhizome (Curcuma domestica,, Val.), wound healing, curcumin.
