- Introduction Aims:Propionibacterium acnes is a normal flora of the gland of polysebaseus of human skin, this bacterium can cause acne. The study aimed to determine the inhibitory power and to compare the inhibition diameter of aloe vera extract ethanol gel with a concentration of 1% and 4% with clindamycin. The research.Method:was carried out using the disc diffusion method, which was determined by filter paper discs dipped in cream preparations and then placed on the surface of the media that had been overgrown with bacteria then let stand for 2 hours. Petri dishes were incubated at 370 C for 24 hours then observed the inhibition zone formed.Result:Based on the results of research on aloe vera extract ethanol gel with a concentration of 1% and 4% has a inhibitory power indicated by an average inhibition diameter of 3,06 and 3,24 cm to Propionibacterium acnes.Conclusion:Statistically the inhibition diameter of the aloe vera ethanol extract gel had a significant different with klindamicyn 1% which was 1,94 cm.Keywords: Aloe vera ethanol extract gel, inhibitory test, disc paper, Propionibacterium acnes.
