Improving Students' Listening Ability Through Short Movie for Senior High School Students

- The objective of the research is to improve students' listening ability using short movie as a learning media for senior high school students at SMA PAWYATAN DAHA KEDIRI. The research on students’ listening ability was a clasroom action reasearch. It involved 15 students of eleventh grade students of SMA PAWYATAN DAHA KEDIRI in the first semester of the academic year of 2019/2020. The data were collected by using test. Test 1 was conducted on August 5, 2019. The result of test 1 showed that 6% or 1 student got score more than 75 means that the students who can pass grade the criteria of success was 1 student, while 14 students did not. Test 2 was condutcted on August 12, 2019. The result of test 2 showed that 14 students can passed the passing grades. Test 3 was conducted on August 19, 2019. The researcher got the result of students who get a score 75 were 14 students. So that the percentage of the students succeeded on the cycle was 93.3%. From the percentage calculation, more than 75% students could pass the passing grade, 75 (93%>75%). Based on the result of cycle 1, The researcher decided to finish the classroom action research. So, the researcher and collaborator (teacher) made conclusion of applying short movie in teaching listening to improve students listening ability were effective.
