R.</creator><subject>200401 Applied Linguistics and Educational Linguistics</subject><description>Reading is one of the basic skills that people use in everyday activity, it&#xD; begins with seeing a written form of something and then process the meaning from it.&#xD; Reading skill is important for communication to gain information. The research&#xD; question of this research is &#x201C;Is there any significant difference of the students&#x2019; reading&#xD; skill between those students who are taught by using sticky notes and those students&#xD; who are taught by using cloze procedure?&#x201D;. Furthermore, in order to answer research&#xD; question, the aim of this study is to find out the significant difference of the students&#x2019;&#xD; reading skill between those students who are taught by using sticky notes and those&#xD; students who are taught by using cloze procedure.&#xD; The researcher uses quasi-experimental research design. The researcher take&#xD; the population of eight grade students of MTsN 2 Nganjuk and the sample are from&#xD; two classes of eight grade. VIII 2 class consists of 31 students as the experimental&#xD; group and VIII 1 class consists of 29 students as a control group. The experimental&#xD; group was taught reading skill by using sticky notes and the control group was taught&#xD; by using cloze procedure. Pre-test and post-test were applied to both experimental&#xD; and control group to collect the data. After give a post-test, the researcher continues&#xD; to analyze the data using SPSS 16.0.&#xD; The result of this research reveal that the significant value of the hypothesis&#xD; testing is 0.94 which is higher than 0.05 (.000&gt;.05). It shows that the null hypothesis&#xD; is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected. Therefore, sticky notes is not&#xD; effective in teaching reading skill.
