- This thesis is entitled: Production Designer’s Role in the Pre-Production and Production of “Petunia” Short Film. In a film production, a production designer have the task to create the concept of set and properties, based on the script and to visualize it in the film. This thesis will specifically explain the role of production designer in creating set and property concept for several specific scene, such as Clarine’s bedroom, dinning room, and living room, and how the concept is applied in the short film: “Petunia”. Using the quantitative descriptive method, the writer collects data such as theories, sketch and drawings as reference and later observe and analyze the data as a part of creating a concept for set and properties used in this film. This method of data collecting is also used so this thesis could describe in details the role of production designer in the pre-production and production in the short film: “Petunia”.
