  • The growth of financial technology as an innovation in digital payment function to facilitate the lives of people in transactions. However, the number of people who continue to use cash is still high. The factors that influence the community to continue to use cash payments are the presence of inertia in someone who is affected by the incumbent system habit and the transition cost. Therefore, this research wants to test the inertia factor in using a digital payment system that is influenced by incumbent system habit and transition cost. This research uses Structural Equation Modelling (SEM-PLS) method with SmartPLS version 3.2.8 tool. Respondents in this reserach amounted to 100 prospective digital payment users (OVO and GO-PAY) in the Jakarta area. Based on the hypothesis test, it shows that there is a significant and positive influence of the incumbent system habit and transition cost to inertia, as well as the significant and negative relationship of inertia to the intention to use the new system. Suggestions in this study are that digital payment providers can change people's habits in transactions by targeting areas that are always passed by people to make transactions. In addition, the organizers need to simplify the process of using and filling balances for the users.
