- To discuss the negative influence of Indonesian interference in using English, is the aim of this writing. The data were collected from 40 free essays written by the university students of Udayana, Undiksha, Mahasaraswati and Warmadewa and analyzed through Error Analysis. The findings showed that most of the students managed to use lexicons in appropriate ways; however quite few students are still facing problem in terms of lexical semantic and syntactical choices. In order to cope with this problem, students are expected not to apply Indonesian language rules when using English.
