- AbstrakIndonesia adalah negara penghasil rotan terbesar yang memiliki potensi untuk menguasai pasar furnitur rotan dunia. Namun peluang peningkatan nilai jual furnitur rotan masih terhambat masalah desain yang selama ini masih mengandalkan desain dari buyer dengan bentuk konvensional dan boros dalam pemanfaatan ruang. Eksplorasi ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan alternatif struktur furnitur rotan serta pemanfaatan kombinasi material pada bagian sambungan sehingga menghasilkan furnitur rotan dengan sistem sambungan dinamis yang dapat dibongkar-pasang dan dilipat. Hasil aplikasi eksplorasi ini berupa furnitur rotan modular yang dapat dikomposisikan menjadi beberapa variasi bentuk dan fungsi dengan pendekatan desain yang mengacu pada faktor estetis, efisiensi, dan fungsional.Kata Kunci : eksplorasi, furnitur, rotan, sambunganAbstractIndonesia is the biggest rattan-producer country that has potential to dominate the world-rattan furniture trade. But the opportunity of escalation in sales value of this rattan furniture are obstructed by design problems, because all this time, the design still came from buyer with conventional shape and inefficient on space. The exploration is intended to gain alternative of structures of rattan furniture and the usage of material combination on the joint. There will be rattan furniture which is having dynamic-joint system which can be exploded and folded. The result of this exploration are rattan furnitures with a modular system which can be composed into some variations of shapes and functions, using a design approach based on aesthetic, efficient, and functional.
