Daftar Isi:
- Navicula salinicola is a type of marine microalgae that is included in the class Bacillariophyceae (diatoms). These microalgae are benthic and have a slightly brownish color. In this study, the antibacterial activity test of the Naviculla salinicolla microalgae was extracted using several organic solvents. The presence of antibacterial activity was seen through the MIC and MBC values of each extract and identified the active compound groups contained in the extract. Extraction was carried out by graded maceration method using n-hexane, chloroform, and ethanol as solvents. Antibacterial activity test was carried out against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis using the microdilution method with clindamycin as the standard for comparison. The results showed that the chloroform extract had antibacterial activity with a MIC value of 1.024 μg / mL and a MBC value> 16.384 μg / ml. Monitoring of chloroform extract with TLC method showed the presence of alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, steroids and terpenoids. The results of bioautographic testing on the chloroform extract of Navicula salinicola showed that the phenol and flavonoid compounds gave antibacterial activity Keywords: antibacterial activity, Naviculla salinicola, Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis
