Hubungan Antara Self-Esteem dan Prokrastinasi Akademis pada Mahasiswa Emerging Adulthood di Universitas Pelita Harapan

- In present days, people are required to expand their knowledge based on several considerations including one’s potential, problems, opportunities, and risks associated to globalization, possible economic recession, and free trade. Studying in college provides individuals a chance to improve their human capital through learning experiences, titles, confidence, skills, and manners required to compete in the global market. During emerging adulthood stage, education is an important aspect, despite that fact, there are a lot of college students lacking in commitment in their studies, resulting in academic procrastination. Effects of academic procrastination are plenty. High levels of cademic procrastination can be predicted with low self-esteem. The study aims to seek the correlation between self esteem and academic procrastination on emerging adulthood college students at Universitas Pelita Harapan. The study uses quantitative methods with 104 participants from active students of Universitas Pelita Harapan. Instruments used in current study are Academic Procrastination scale and Self Liking/Self Competence Scale – Revised. Results of this study shows that there is a significant negative correlation between academic procrastination and self-esteem with rs=-.501, p=.000 (p=<.001). Related findings are also discussed here.
