- The prevalence of people with dementia will continue to grow with increasing life expectancy.. There are about 46,8 million people suffering from Dementia disease in the world in 2015, and as many as 22,9 million of whom are in Asia. Dementia is characterized by cognitive decline, decreased independence in performing daily activities that can affect the quality of life of people in general. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of cognitive impairment to the quality of life of elderly with dementia in Asia. This literature review method using thematic analysis with a simplified approach. Search research article uses data base EBSCO and PubMed, with the key word is 'cognitive functioning’, ‘older adults', ‘elderly’, 'dementia', and 'quality of life'. This literature review method using thematic analysis with a simplified approach (simplified approach). 1439 articles were excluded by the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Articles analyzed were four articles from Japan, China and Hong kong. The result of the analysis is the study of cognitive function significantly affect the quality of life of dementia patients in Asia. Some other factors that affect the quality of life in the study is the educational background, activities of daily life and depression. The results of this study are expected to be the basic data or empirical research information for researchers who will conduct research in the field of quality of life of elderly people with dementia in Indonesia or Asia / Prevalensi penderita demensia akan terus meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya usia harapan hidup. Ada sekitar 46,8 juta jiwa yang menderita penyakit demensia di dunia pada tahun 2015, dan sebanyak 22,9 juta jiwa di antaranya berada di Asia. Demensia ditandai dengan penurunan fungsi kognitif, penurunan kemandirian dalam melakukan aktivitas sehari-hari sehingga dapat memengaruhi kualitas hidup individu secara umum. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi apakah pengaruh penurunan fungsi kognitif terhadap kualitas hidup lanjut usia dengan demensia di Asia. Metode literature review ini menggunakan analisis tematik dengan pendekatan yang disederhanakan. Pencarian artikel penelitian menggunakan data base EBSCO dan PubMed, dengan kata kunci adalah ‘cognitive functioning’, ‘older adults’, ‘elderly’, ‘dementia’, dan ‘quality of life’. 1439 artikel dieksklusikan sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Artikel yang dianalsis adalah empat artikel dari negara Jepang, Cina dan Hong kong. Hasil analisis penelitian adalah fungsi kognitif memengaruhi secara signifikan pada kualitas hidup pasien demensia di Asia. Beberapa faktor lain yang mempengaruhi kualitas hidup dalam penelitian yaitu latar belakang pendidikan, aktivitas kehidupan sehari-hari dan depresi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi data dasar atau informasi penelitian secara empirikal untuk peneliti yang akan melakukan penelitian di bidang kualitas hidup lansia dengan demensia di Indonesia atau Asia.
