  • This study aims to expand the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) in explaining internal and external factors that affect the sustainability of micro enterprises. TPB was chosen because it is one of the main parsimonious theories in explaining people's behaviour. Furthermore, the theory has been widely applied in many contexts of behaviour such as purchasing behaviour, non-ethical behaviour, healthy behaviour, and many more applications in the context of behavioural or behavioural intention. In relation to the entrepreneurial context, the understanding of internal and external factors that impact on the sustainability of micro enterprises is important because micro entrepreneurs are one of the main elements supporting economic development, especially in reducing poverty and unemployment. This paper develops a conceptual framework based on the theory of planned behaviour and the roles of microfinance.
