  • This paper discusses and describes engagement of the students, as the outcome of the motivation, supports the success of the lesson in the class. All types of engagement (behavioral, cognitive, and affective) works together so that the students could be an active learner. The researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) method in conducting the research in SOK ABC, a private Christian School in Batam. Qualitative descriptive analysis was used for data analysis. The data results showed that there was an improvement of students' behavioral engagement after the implementation of role play teachings strategy. Moreover, the implementation of role play teaching strategy for grade Ill students was found to be optimum if the time allocation, written rules procedures, and also encouragement of the students in asking questions were in notice. The conclusion was supported by the findings of all instruments in the research.
